Today the WWF are celebrating the opening of their ‘A river runs through it’ exhibition, which was supported by Meriden MP, Dame Caroline Spelman.

The Boundary Commission has revised it's proposals to split up the Meriden constituency by preserving two constituencies in Solihull Borough.

In the West Midlands the number of unauthorised traveller encampments has doubled since 2011.  Solihull has experienced twice as many encampments this year as in 2015.

Responding to this increase, Caroline Spelman, MP for Meriden said:

The Police and Crime Commissioner has come under fire from local residents and Meriden MP, Dame Caroline Spelman, following a spate of serious and violent crime in the villages of Solihull Borough which have seen a number of aggravated vehicle thefts and burglaries in recent weeks.

At the request of local residents, I am today launching a petition to call on the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner to take urgent action to restore police resources to the rural areas of Solihull Borough in order to put a stop to the recent crime wave we have experienced.

Birmingham Airport has responded to calls from local residents and MPs for a fairer flightpath consultation by extending the deadline for feedback to November 6th.

Local representatives Dame Caroline Spelman and Craig Tracey led resident’s calls for an extension to the closing date of the public consultation on northbound flight path changes.

Birmingham Airport is one of Monarch Airlines five UK hubs. In the early hours of this morning, Monarch Airlines was taken into administration.

Residents will be aware of the proposals to change the departure flight paths north of Birmingham Airport which are currently being consulted on.

Local MP Dame Caroline Spelman, has written to the CAA to object to the removal of the Whitegate flight path as part of the UK Airspace redesign programme.
