Following the Boundary Commission’s publication of constituency boundary review proposals on Monday 16th October, Meriden MP, Dame Caroline Spelman, has expressed her support for the outcome of the recent West Midlands boundary review.
Revised proposals will mean Blythe ward will go into the Solihull Parliamentary constituency with Elmdon ward returning to the Meriden Parliamentary constituency. Caroline commented:
“I welcome the proposals set out in the boundary review and am heartened to see that they respect the integrity of our local boundaries. I am encouraged that the Boundary Commission listened to residents and my representation about the importance of keeping our local communities together and retaining two Parliamentary seats for the borough of Solihull. I would like to thank all of my constituents who made their views known to the Boundary Commission.”
Previously, the Boundary Commission had suggested that the Meriden constituency should be split across Solihull Borough, Coventry and Stratford Upon Avon District.
