17th March – Second Church Estates Commissioner, Caroline Spelman MP, welcomed measured introduced in the Chancellor’s Budget during her regular CCQs in the House of Commons.
The Second Church Estates Commissioner answers regular questions from MPs on the work of the Church of England across the UK.
Topical questions from MPs included; the additional £20 million cathedral repair fund announced by the Chancellor in yesterday’s Budget, the benefits of the Government’s Feed-in Tariff scheme for solar panels and cheaper renewables and, the Lords Spiritual (Women) Act, which will see the Bishops’ Bench in the House of Lords better reflect the gender diversity within the church and wider society.
