In February 2017 Dame Caroline agreed to adopt the Willow Tit; an endangered bird species - native to the UK, as part of an RSPB campaign to raise awareness of rare and endangered bird species in Parliament. The campaign saw MPs from across all parties each committed to protecting their chosen species of rare bird.
As part of her work to help safeguard and protect this species, the MP visited Millisons Wood Nature Reserve on Friday 31st July with representatives from RSPB West Midlands to discuss their work in Solihull borough and to explore what more can be done to safeguard the Willow Tit.
Dame Caroline said, "With just over 3,400 breeding pairs now left in the wild, this species of bird can only survive with our immediate help and intervention.
I was delighted to visit Millisons Wood Nature Reserve and thank the RSPB for presenting me with a 'Willow Tit Champion canvass'. I would strongly encourage residents across Meriden to support the Willow Tit by visiting their local nature reserve or RSPB centre. More details can be found on their website.
