Following the closure of the recent northbound flight path consultation at Birmingham Airport, Meriden MP, Dame Caroline Spelman, is urging local residents to have their say on the issue of aircraft noise through a new national survey.
The survey, which is investigating the impact of aviation noise, has been launched Civil Aviation Authority - the UKs independent airspace regulator, in an attempt to ‘get a better understanding of the impact of noise’ and to help inform future action on how to tackle this issue for worst affected communities.
Speaking about the consultation, Dame Caroline said,
“The issue of aircraft noise affects several communities across the Meriden constituency - not least the communities of Balsall Common, Barston, Castle Bromwich and Hampton in Arden.
“As a result of the proposed changes to the runway 15 and runway 33 departure flight paths at Birmingham Airport there has been an increased awareness of aircraft noise in communities across the borough. For that reason, I would encourage local residents to engage with this survey which provides local residents with a chance to have their say on the way in which aircraft noise is managed and the effectiveness of current civil aviation rules and regulation”.
