"In the last decade there has been a 43% increase in the number of people detained under the current Mental Health Act – which raises concerns that vulnerable people are being subject to detention, including in police cells, unnecessarily.
"It is for that reason, I am delighted that the Prime Minister, Theresa May, has announced real action on mental health: tackling discrimination and committingto 10,000 more staff working in NHS mental health services by 2020.
"Having recently succeeded in my campaign to retain primary care services at Solihull Hospital, with your continued support I will support the Prime Minister's plan to improve Mental Health care and work to secure better funding and more resources for our local NHS, Mental Health and Social Care Services in order to meet the diverse and changing needs of our population".
