Caroline Spelman MP praises the Pensions Advisory Service
The Pensions Advisory Service (TPAS) is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary of providing free information and guidance on pensions to the public, this year.
TPAS is an executive non-departmental public body of the Department for Work & Pensions. It is an independent organisation that provides information on all pension matters, including company, personal and stakeholder schemes. It also offers help to individuals who have problems or disputes with private pension agreements.
The service is provided primarily by a nationwide network of volunteer advisers, supported by a small staff in London.
Caroline Spelman says, “TPAS provides an important service. It is vital that people are aware that there is somewhere they can go to seek independent advice if they have any questions or concerns about their pensions.”
The TPAS website contains excellent resources, including factsheets covering a wide range of pension issues. It has also recently launched a new live web chat service which allows people to talk to a pensions expert in real time. The website can be accessed at: http://www.pensionsadvisoryservice.org.uk/
