Today Caroline attended Westminster Flu Day and received the seasonal flu vaccination.
Following her vaccination, Caroline commented:
“Ouch! I never enjoy having an injection but as part of Westminster Flu Day I’ve just been vaccinated! As the threat of winter Flu approaches, I encourage my constituents to get this year’s vaccine. The vaccine is free for certain groups but available to all. Solihull vaccination rates have increased over recent years and it would be great to build on this progress.”
The NHS advise that the best time to have the flu vaccine is in the autumn, from the beginning of October to early November. The flu jab is widely available to the following groups of people:
- anyone over the age of 65
- pregnant women
- children and adults with an underlying health condition (particularly long-term heart or lung disease)
- children and adults with weakened immune systems
